The IITA Hotel Ibadan carters to guests who desire a retreat to relax and unwind. This resort is like a jewel hidden in a haystack. It is serene, beautiful, and ideal for the perfect getaway from the hassle of city life.
What to expect at IITA Hotel Ibadan:
1. The resort is located along the Old Oyo Road, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, away from the main city which allows for a peaceful retreat.
2. Be ready to connect with nature.
3. The food is good and affordable.
4. There is a beautiful lake where you can enjoy the birds sing, go fishing, or just spend some alone time appreciating nature.
5. The rooms/apartments are clean, albeit, dated.
6. The resort has Superior Single Rooms and Superior Double Rooms in the International House. The Residential Blocks has Single/Double/Twin Rooms, 1 Bedroom Flat, and 2 Bedroom Flat. The International House and Residential blocks are not located far from each other. I would opt for the Residential block next time. It was preferred to the Superior Single Room I booked. It was spacious and I loved the views from the room.
7. Room rates as of October 2020.
8. Check-in – 3 pm (early check-in is subject to availability of the room before this time), check out – 12noon.
9. From Ibadan, you can take a trip to Abeokuta to visit the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library/Museum. The museum is definitely a must-see. You can read about my experience via this link.

I was in Ibadan some time last year, I went to IITA I thought I could pay for the tours: forest walk etc. without having to lodge since I was already lodging somewhere else. I was not allowed in, I look forward to exploring IITA at a later date.
They are very strict regarding who they let into the premises. I hope you can stay there someday. It’s beautiful.
Hi. After paying for accommodation, does one have to pay for the tours too
Yes, the tours come with additional charges.
Also, the fees for the accommodation is it worth it.
I believe it is if you opt for the apartments. It’s primarily a research institute with a hospitality add-on service.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Had to scout through the internet before I could get this. If you are in the Hospitality Business, perception and quality of service is very important. My family paid a physical visit to IITA on a Saturday (to make enquiries and if possible make reservations for the holidays) and was told the person that could help is only available on Mondays-Fridays. Unbelievable, and leaves a very poor impression about IITA’s attempt at hospitality.
Regarding reservations, I made mine via email and was able to communicate with the helpdesk on phone. I know that they are strict about who gets into the premises. It is difficult to get in without a reservation, so if you received this information at the security post, it was probably misguided or incorrect.
Thanks for this! I am a proud Ibadan girl and IITA is a perfect getaway- been there 3 times. With your lovely article, I may return this year again. Just beautiful!
My pleasure.
Thank you for this! I will definitely be going there soon. It looks so serene.
My pleasure.
Hello, can I get in without lodging in the hotel, I live in Ibadan already
You can’t. They are strict with their policy regarding who they let in.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I will like to visit IITA before the year runs out… what budget should I be looking at?
The price chart is in the article.
Thank you for putting this up. Very helpful . Is it only the tours that attract additional charges? What of the sports ? If yes, could you help with the price?
The use of the hotel amenities is complimentary.
Also, can one go to the city while lodged there ?
Yes.
Thank you for this helpful article. I plan to go there next weekend. Kindly clarify if the weekend rate applies for both saturday and sunday or its for individual days.
Please contact IITA for clarification. Thank you.
Thank you Oto. This is really helpful. I’m planning a trip to IITA and Obasanjo Library this summer.
My pleasure.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Just concluding an arrangement to visit the place with my family this break. Hoping to start the fun with a flight from Abuja to Lagos and then a train ride from Lagos to Ibadan, pick a cab to the location.
For a family of 4, what’s your best accommodation type?
Awesome. Go for the one or 2 bedroom flat.
Do you know if they rent out the garden area for an intimate vow exchange?
Possibly. I know of a wedding that happened by the lake.
Lovely article! I think I’ll be visiting in a few days and spend about 2 to 3 days. How much for the tours please?
You should request the list of tours and prices when you get there.
Quite helpful, many thanks
My pleasure.
Thanks for this write up. Do you knownidnthey have an event hall of sorts? Was thinking of doing a family gathering with my immediate ans extended family ( so it will be a large group) to celebrate my moms 70th. Do you think this is something they will be open to?+
Please reach out to IITA with your questions regarding reservations. Thanks.
Can you help with their email address so I can reach out as well
Did you read this article? The information you require is in it.
Thanks for this write-up, my concerns has been state of the rooms, most writers complained about the state of the rooms, on scale of 1 -10, how bad are the rooms; from bed to window blind and the room itself?
Please seek the opinion of the writers who complained. I have uploaded the photos here and provided my sincere opinion based on my experience. Feel free to draw your conclusions from them.
Thanks.
I’ve been at the golf course a couple of times and I testify it’s one of the best courses ve ever been to – and widely travelled on account of golf.
I checked in yesterday to have a feel of the accommodation and for a game of golf today. The room though old are quite good and with an immaculately done interior. But the single room deluxe costs 42k which in fact is the most expensive in Ibadan. The bedding need a review. The bedsheets and pillows are ordinary and unfriendly.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing. I’m sure inspired to visit
Awesome. My pleasure.
Great Review, thanks for sharing. Please can you share their contact number
The contact details are in the post.
