Vacation Destinations Nigerians Can Visit With a Budget of N500,000

“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before”

As we begin the year 2019, here are some budget vacation destinations you can visit from Lagos/Abuja Nigeria with a budget of N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira).

Nairobi, Kenya

Nigerian passport holders require a visa to travel to Kenya but rest assured that the process is an easy one. The single-entry visa which is valid for three months from the date of issue, with a stay of up to 90 days, can be obtained on arrival at the airport for $50. You can also renew the visa for up to a maximum of six months – at the immigration headquarters in Nairobi.

Depending on the airline, return tickets to Nairobi from Lagos/Abuja would cost between N200,000-N250,000 in low season.

Budget accommodation can be found in the capital, Nairobi for as low as N10,000-N20,000 per night (including breakfast). For a Premium Experience such as a 3  day safari or 7 day masai experience, it would cost you a minimum of N100,000, depending on the time of the year. You can also enjoy half day tours with costs ranging from N10,000-N15,000 .

Capetown, South Africa

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful vacation destinations in Africa. Nigerian passport holders require a visa to visit South Africa and this can be obtained at a fee of $80.

Flights to Cape Town would cost between N175,000 to N250,000 in low season. You can book hotels for as low as N15,000 per night or opt for an apartment for less on airbnb. You can also enjoy tours and other fun activities for N20,000 .


Budget vacation destinations

Zanzibar, Tanzania

Nigerian passport holders require a visa to visit Tanzania. This must be obtained before departure as Tanzania discontinued its visa on arrival policy for Nigerian passport holders.

Return flights to Zanzibar cost between N220,000- N300,000, while other touristy activities can be enjoyed for as low as N15,000. There are also very cheap hotels in Zanzibar for as low as N10,000 per night.

Ghana/Benin/Togo

Nigerian passport holders can enjoy visa free entries to these beautiful neighbouring countries. You can take a road trip from Lagos to these destinations for as low as N10,000. Flights to these neighbouring countries are also inexpensive and can be achieved with N80,000-N150,000.

Rwanda, Kigali

Rwanda has become a choice destination for Nigerians. It is beautiful and the weather is great. Flights to Nairobi costs as low as NGN135,000 in low season- thanks to Rwandair. Visa can be obtained on arrival. It cost $30 for single entry. You can take a road trip to Lake Kivu, visit the genocide memorials and experience other touristy activities for as low as N30,000. Some of these activities are free.

Dubai/Abu Dhabi, UAE

With flights as low as N200,000, and e-visas for less than N50,000, Dubai is a choice destination for most Nigerian passport holders. There is a variety of accommodation that you can opt for, starting at N12,000 per night. You can also visit Abu Dhabi on the public bus for as low as N2,500.

Dubai is a beautiful destination with lots of fun activities to engage in. Shopping is a big part of visiting Dubai so ensure you budget some money to indulge.
