When was the last time you did something for the first time? I tried snorkelling for the first time, in the Maldives and it was such a fulfilling and rewarding experience.
I snorkelled at Biyadhoo Reef and saw the sea-turtles at Turtle Reef in the Maldives.
Contrary to what many people think, snorkelling actually requires little swimming effort and lots of courage to get into the sea.
It is such a beautiful and enlightening activity where you get the rare privilege of exploring and observing the underwater life. It is usually practiced in warm, calm seas with clear water.
Once you have tried snorkelling once, you’ll become amazed at how beautiful it is down there.

Here are a few tips to guide you when snorkelling for the first time;

-
Make sure you have the right equipment and that they fit properly. Ease in and become comfortable with them before getting into the sea. You may find that the only way to breathe will be through your mouth (through the tube). Avoid gulping sea water. Trust me, you will be fine. 🙂
-
Do not snorkel alone. Common sense should guide you here.
-
Avoid panicking even when you come in close contact with sea creatures. Ok… that sounds scary, right?
-
Snorkelling is pretty safe but you may be vulnerable to things like currents, sharp reefs, and wildlife. It is advisable to pick a snorkelling spot with calmer waves so you don’t have to struggle with the current.
I haven’t snorkeled before but hope to do so someday. But how did you take these pictures under water?
There are underwater digital cameras for this purpose. You can also use your phone if you have a secured waterproof case for it.
I have never been a fan of large bodies of water. I will have to see this activity through your eyes. lol
Hahaha… it was easier than I imagined. Sometimes, you have to venture.
