Fun things to do in Dubai

Dubai is like a melting pot of Europe, America and the rest of the world. It is one of the fun places to visit in the middle east. Interestingly, more Nigerians love to visit because getting a visa to Dubai is hassle free and cheap compared to other detinations.

The best time to visit Dubai is during winter from November to April. At this time of the year, the weather is pleasant and you can enjoy more outdoor activities.

Dubai Park & Resorts

One of the most fun things to do while in Dubai is to visit Dubai Park & Resorts. This leisure and theme park destination is for all ages. Ticket prices into the park range from AED 175 to AED 525 for the three theme parks which are; the Motion gate Dubai, Legoland Dubai & Bollywood parks. Each park has its own hotel, resort, rides, and restaurant.

Another fun thing to do while in Dubai is the Desert Safari. Prices start at AED 35/per person. While on the safari, some of the activities you should expect are dunes driving, desert photoshoot at sunset with falcons, camel riding, henna tattoos, belly dancing, desert dinner show – there is always something fun to do here.

La Mer

La Mer Dubai is another fun place to visit when you are in Dubai. It is open from 10am – midnight so you can spend a day dining, shopping, relaxing on the beach and exploring this beautiful beachfront. You can also rent a family sized cabana; or a daybed.

Enjoying a lazy vacation or lush staycation at La Mer is ideal for solo travelers as well as with family. You can swim/sunbathe while taking in the Arabian Gulf Sun, watch your children play and of course take lots of beautiful pictures.

Do you plan to visit Dubai with the kids?  There are several water activities you could engage in. They include paddle boarding, surfing and swimming.

Dubai Mall

If you visit Dubai, then you must absolutely plan to visit the Dubai mall. This is the largest mall in the world and is located in the prestigious downtown Dubai. It houses an unparalleled retail mix combined with world-class dining, entertainment and leisure activities such as skiing, dancing fountains etc. You could spend hours or a full day shopping in this mall.

While in Dubai Mall, pay for a tour (from AED100) to enter the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. It is one of the largest indoor aquaria in the world that showcases a diverse collection of aquatic life. Even if you do not care to see the variety of aquatic lives on display, you will be amazed at the sheer engineering that has a capacity to hold 10 million liters of water in a tank and learn about the marine life.

Above the Aquarium you will also see the underwater zoo which houses unusual reptiles and animals such as Penguins, Crab, water rats, seahorses, and alligators.


The Burj Khalifa

Interested in seeing the tallest building in the world? Then you should definitely pay a visit to The Burj Khalifa, one of the most impressive structures in the world. This skyscraper has its open viewing area on the 124th floor where you can enjoy the city view. The Burj  Khalifa is often described as both a vertical city and a living wonder.

At 828 metres, the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. There are gift shops, toilets and snacks on the 125th floor. In the evening around 6pm, one can watch the Dubai Fountain show from the top and the Burj lights up which lasts 3 minutes and runs every 30 minutes.


Road trip to Ras Al Khaimah

You can also take a road trip to Ras Al Khaimah for FREE! There is a shuttle bus that leaves for RAK from Dubai International Airport 6 times daily. It also has free WIFI – however, this service is only available from June 1st to September 30th).


Dubai Gold, Textile, Spice Souk

Finally, you should visit the Dubai Gold, Textile, Spice Souk.  This is located in Deira and holds around 10 tons of gold. Be prepared mentally for the hustle and bustle of the market.
