March 11, 2015- I was at the Barbican Centre, London for my graduation ceremony from the University of London International Programmes where I obtained a Master’s degree in Corporate and Commercial Law. ‘Mummy dearest’ was there to support me and we had an unforgettable experience.
As a frequent traveler to the UK, this trip was different because I had the perfect companion- my mother. She is my greatest inspiration and I love her so much.
My graduation day began with our morning devotion, then breakfast, and we departed for the Barbican Centre. I registered my attendance, obtained entry tickets and was directed to the gowning area where I was robed in the academic dress before proceeding to take pictures.
I remember my graduation from Madonna University, Okija in 2006, I didn’t have the perfect graduation picture so I was determined to take one this time…and I did.
The event was well attended by more than 3,000 people from countries across the globe. The amiable Chief Aare Afe Babalola (SAN), a Nigerian lawyer, philanthropist and founder of Afe Babalola University was awarded the Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa by the institution for his outstanding contributions to the development of Nigerian Law and Jurisprudence. It felt good to see one of our own being celebrated.
This was another feather in my cap, and as the saying goes “You measure the size of the accomplishment by the obstacles you had to overcome to reach your goals”.
CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN DEAR. MORE GRACE!!
