It was my birthday; i attained another milestone and thought of the perfect ‘birthday gift’ for myself. After weeks of planning, I packed my bags and embarked on a tour around Europe for 3 weeks. I traveled between cities, saw the world like never before and had the time of my life.
They say Venice is for lovers and I totally agree. It is definitely a city for one’s bucket list. Venice Italy is sited on a group of small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. The city is built on the lagoon and can be explored randomly by walking; the absence of cars makes this a pleasant experience.
I had a day to explore the city of Venice Italy so I set out from Milan on the Trenitalia from Milano Centrale to Venezia Santa Lucia. The journey was less than 3 hours.
While in Venice, I did the boat tour which gave me a brilliant view of the city, had lunch at an Italian restaurant near the canal, did the wine tasting tour in a local Enoteca, indulged in some shopping around San Marco, had gelato at the popular Boutique del Gelato, explored Rialtor market and Rialtor bridge. The Rialtor bridge is the oldest in the city and a top tourist attraction with lots of shops nearby and restaurants with tables by the canal where you can have the quintessential experience of dinning by the canal lights.
Venice Italy is beautiful!!! This was indeed a perfect birthday gift.
What a terrific birthday present for yourself. I stayed in Venice for 6 days before boarding a cruise in 2010 and I cannot wait to return. Your photos brought back many fabulous memories. I must do my own Venice post eventually.
Thanks,
Genevieve
Great!. Please send me a link when you do your Venice post. Venice is indeed beautiful and i would love to return and spend more time exploring the sights and sounds. 6 days is enough time to explore the entire city. I bet you had fun.
