Visa Free Countries for Nigerian Citizens

We have compiled a list of  Visa free Countries for Nigerians and details of activities and top attractions to explore in these destinations.

Barbados:

Barbados is an island in the Caribbean and is ranked as a leading tourist destination. It lies on the boundary of the South American and the Caribbean Plates. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens except you plan to stay for 6 months or more.

Capital: The capital and main city is Bridgetown.

Language: The official language in Barbados is English.

Currency:  The local currency is the Bajan dollar (BBD), but US dollars are accepted in almost all shops and restaurants.

Weather: The country generally experiences two seasons, the wet season which runs from June to November and dry season which runs from December to May.

Top attractions: Barbados Wildlife Reserve in Speightstown to Bathesha, Barbados Garrison Savannah Area around Bridgetown, Miami Beach in Oistins, Accra Beach in Hastings and Rockley, Parliament buildings in Bridgetown, Nidhe Isreal Museum in Bridgetown and Sunbury Plantation House in Bathsheba South to Christ Church Parish.

 

Republic of Benin:

Benin is a country in West Africa, bordered by Togo to the west, Nigeria to the east, Niger and Burkina Faso to the North. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens.

Capital: Porto-Novo but the seat of government is in Cotonou which is the largest city and economic capital.

Language: the official language is French.

Currency: West African CFA franc.

Weather: Benin experiences high rainfall and dry season from November to February.

Top Attractions: Benin is known as the birthplace of Vodun (Voodoo) which remains the official religion of the country, and an important part of the life of ordinary Beninese. Attractions include, Musée Historique d’Abomey in Abomey, Grand Marché de Dantokpa in Cotonou, Musée Honmé in Port Novo, Musée Régional de Natitingou in Natitimgou, Kota falls in Natitingou and Python Temple in Ouidah.

 

Burkina Faso

 

Burkina Faso is a country in West Africa. It is surrounded by Mali, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Niger. Formerly known as the Republic of Upper Volta, the country was renamed ‘Burkina Faso’ (which means ‘land of the upright/honest people’) in 1984. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens.

Capital: Ouagadougou

Language: French is the official language.

Currency: West African CFA franc.

Weather: Burkina Faso experiences rainy season from May/June through September and dry season from October to April.

Top attractions: Karfiguéla Waterfalls around Banfora, Grande Mosquée in Bobo Dioulasso, Musée National in Ouagadougou, Moro-Naba Palace in Ouagadougou, Grand Marché in Bobo Dioulasso and Musée Communal Sogossira Sanon in Bobo Dioulasso.

 

Cameroon

Cameroon is a country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Nigeria to the west, Chad to the north east, the Central African Republic to the east; Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Republic of Congo to the south. Cameroon’s coastline lies on the Bight of Bonny, part of the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean.Visa is not required for citizens of Nigeria.

Capital: Yaounde

Language: French and English are the official languages.

Currency: Central African CFA franc.

Weather: Cameroon experiences both wet and dry seasons.

Top attractions: Monument da la Reunification in Yaounde, Mount Cameroon, Mechum falls in Wum, Doual’ Art and Marche des fleurs in Douala, Mefou National Park in Yaounde, Chutes de la Lobe in Kribi.

 

Cape Verde

Cape Verde is a country in West Africa and is bordered by Senegal. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens.

Capital: Praia.

Language: Cape Verde’s official language is Portuguese.

Currency:  Cape Verdean Escudo (CVE)

Weather: Cape Verde experiences warm, dry summer seasons.

Top attractions: Buracona-Olho Azul in Ilha do Sal, Praia de Santa Maria in Santa Maria, Pont d’ Aqua and Mont Verde in Mindelo, Museu Etnografico de Praia in Praia, Meseu Municipal in Sao Filipe, Fortaleza Real de San Felipe in Cidade Velha and Tarrafal Beach in Tarrafal.

 

Chad

Chad is in North Central Africa. It is bounded by Libya, Sudan, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and Central African Republic. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens.

Capital: N’Djamena

Language: Chad’s official business languages are Arabic and French.

Currency: Central African CFA franc.

Top attractions: Musee National N’Djamena (National Museum), Grand Marche (central market), Lake Chad, Tibesti Mountains.

 

 

Cote d’Ivoire

Cote d’Ivoire is a country in West Africa. It is also known as Ivory Coast and is bordered by Liberia and Guinea in the west, Mali and Burkina Faso in the north, Ghana in the east and the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) in the south. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens.

Capital: The political capital of Cote d’Ivoire is Yamoussoukro and its economic capital and largest city is the port city of Abidjan.

Language: The official language is French

Currency: West African CFA franc

Weather: Cote d’Ivoire experiences wet and dry seasons.

Top attractions: Bacilica of our Lady of Peace in Yamoussoukro, Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve, Reserve Naturelle du Banco in Abidjan, Mount Nienokoue, Musee National, Abidjan and Pont de la Victoire in Grand Bassam.

 

Dominica

Dominica is an island country in the Caribbean Sea. It is known as the ‘Nature Isle of the Caribbean’ due to its unspoiled natural beauty. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens unless you plan to stay for more than 21days.

Language: English is the official language of Dominica.

Currency: East Caribbean Dollar

Weather: Dominica experiences heavy rainfall.

Fiji

 

Fiji is an island country in Melanesia, in the South Pacific Ocean. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens unless you intend to stay longer than 4 months.

Language:  Fijian is the official language of Fiji, along with English and Fiji Hindi.

Currency: Fijian Dollar

Weather: The weather in Fiji is warm year round with minimal extremes.

Ghana

Language: French is the official language of Guinea.

Guinea-Bissau

 

Guinea-Bissau is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Senegal to the north and Guinea to the south and east. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens unless you intend to stay for more than 90days.

Haiti:

Weather: Haiti has a tropical climate.

Mali

 

Mali is a country in West Africa. Mali is bordered by Algeria to the north, Niger to the east, Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire to the south, Guinea to the south-west, and Senegal and Mauritania to the west. Visa is not required for Nigerian citizens.
