I had the pleasure of exploring Zagreb, and I can’t stop raving about how delightful this city is. Often overlooked in favour of Croatia’s coastal spots, Zagreb has an undeniable charm. What struck me most was the city’s unhurried, laid-back pace; nothing rushed, just a perfect balance between city life and relaxation.
Here is what I loved about visiting Zagreb, Croatia
1. Zagreb is the city of museums. The city has a museum for every taste.
Zagreb is often referred to as the “city of museums,” and for good reason. Whether you’re an art lover, history buff, or just someone curious to dive deeper into the local culture, the city has a museum for every taste. From quirky spots like the Museum of Broken Relationships to the more traditional Art Pavilion, there’s always something thought-provoking or just downright fun to discover.
The highlights for me were the Museum of Broken Relationships, the Museum of Hangovers, and the Chocolate Museum.
2. The Sense of Humour
The city’s sense of humor shines through, especially in its adventures and oddities—take a stroll through the hidden alleyways and you’ll find delightful surprises around every corner. It is a place where history and modernity blend seamlessly, and the locals’ playful spirit makes it feel warm and inviting.
3. Easy Access to other destinations
What I also loved about Zagreb was its easy accessibility to other European cities. The connections are fantastic, making it a perfect base for further European exploration. Whether hopping on a train to Vienna, Budapest, or Ljubljana, or catching a quick flight to somewhere else, Zagreb is so well-connected that traveling beyond it is a breeze.
If you’re looking for a city that’s both culturally rich and easy-going, with a sense of humor that invites you to slow down and enjoy the journey, Zagreb is worth the visit!
